The Australian EP I was beginning to work with said my project is too big "for his wheelhouse. He would not be able to do it credit". Ah, well.

Which sales agent are fronting packaging funds. Can we approach them?

The sales agents who are raising funds are for their internal projects and since animation is much more capital intensive, I'm not sure who would front those development costs unless it was an established animation production company who had backing? Not sure on that one Prema....

The approach of Bringing in Sales agents as co-Financiers at the Development stage is something I adopted several years ago. It mitigates risk both ways as a Showrunner/Creator/Producer and them as Sales Agents. It also informs your sales projections vs Budget and your cast.

I'm curious about the budget level at which sales agents and/or distributors tend to enter. Do they look for films in the million $ range? 3 to 5 million $ ? Thoughts?

I think it would depend on the material and level of director on board as well as producing team as they will want to make sure a strong foundation is in place before coming on as a funding or co-producing partner

Happy EFM prep! Are you going? The sales agent as a producing partner is part of my line up. I have a great relationship with sales agent who can bring theaters for day and date release. Though it leaves a lurch for funding, securing talent and getting to the principal photography start date. Let's just say, I haven't quit my day job!
