But I hear you on not being able to make money that way! (Heather has gone back to practicing law because we couldn't figure that piece out) So how are you getting money from Europe? I thought they didn't do co-productions with US films.
Good problem to have Nanou with equity appearing quickly! To answer your question about getting money out of Europe - needless to say there's a lot of nuance involved but in my experience I'm getting it on European projects or ones set there where we can access soft monies in addition to favorable tax rebates. That's the tip of the iceberg but each situation is different depending on the content and territory and even format. I am looking to finance development funds to be able to attach Talent, Director, and Musical Director.
Hi Prema, I don't have any out of the box advice on raising development funds since it's the hardest part... much more difficult than production funding where risk can be mitigated. What I've seen work is pounding the pavement and raising a little here, and a little there, starting with friends, family, and any wealthy individuals you come across and cash-flowing development as you go, rather than putting pressure on yourself to raise a large lump sum all at once.
